Today is First Friday, which means a few blocks of central Phoenix will be transformed into an art walk/street fair tonight. But in addition to the art, antics, and people, First Friday offers a variety of live, local music.
Here are some highlights of what’s going on where with local music tonight. All shows are free.
The Lost Leaf (914 N. Fifth Street): Local shoegazers Knessett will perform their catchy indie rock, including songs off their CD, Coming of Age

Revolver Records (918 N. Second Street): If you can’t decide whether you want to hear hard rock, heavy metal, or blues, then go see Whiskey Six and you’ll get all three.
Practical Art (5070 N. Central Avenue): Angel and Andrew Winter will provide live music to accompany the Joseph Ward exhibit, Henry Alabatross (and other fictions).
Firehouse (1015 N. First Street): Hank Topless will provide cool country tunes, and local legend Eddie Detroit will bring his brand of post-punk, psychedelic musical poetry.
Paisley Violin (1028 Grand Avenue): Ryan Dishen will play funky folk tunes outside, while Roosevelt Street will provide street jazz inside.
