One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local,
international, in action and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s —
what’s yours?

Craig Oldham‘s a big believer in the power of a hand-written letter.

The well-known football player turned famous graphic designer asked a few of his friends (and more than 100 other professional designers) to hand-write and design letters on their own stationery.

The resulting collection (growing since 2007) is what he calls the The HAND.WRITTEN.LETTER.PROJECT, which he hopes will fight the “tide of depersonalisation” that’s come from email, junk mail and automated correspondence.

Art. Film. Dance. Books. Recreation. Even sex and dating. It’ll be fun, we promise.

There is always something nice about receiving a letter, especially
these days when email, text, status updates, and tweets, dominate our
communication, leaving many to lose sight of the things that have been
around for a while (like
ink and paper). However, it is important that they do not.

See the rest of his collection on the HAND.WRITTEN.LETTER.PROJECT website.
