UNION Grand Opening @ Biltmore Fashion Park
Be still, our shopaholic hearts. This Friday marks the grand opening of UNION, a collection of local, independent shops Biltmore Fashion Park. On our must-shop list is newsstand Frances & Charlie, R&R Surplus, and Citrine Natural Beauty Bar.

The celebration starts on Friday and continues through Sunday. Haps include makeup touch-ups and champagne at Citrine, free totes at Frances for the first 50 customers, pet adoptions, a jewelry trunk show at Paris Envy, and cooking demos from Whoopie Pie Baking Co. There’s no charge to attend — although it’ll probably be tough not to reach for your wallet.
Steampunk Street V @ Downtown Mesa
If Downtown Mesa looks like a time warp during its Second Friday art walk, don’t worry. You haven’t really traveled to the early 1900s. From 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, folks will dress in their steampunk finest, complete with imaginative gizmos, three-piece suits, and Victorian dresses, for Steampunk Street V, an annual street party celebrating steam-powered sci-fi. Whether you’re there to dress up or people-watch, there will be plenty to do and see, including a costume contest, arts and crafts, and gallery shows. Admission is free.
Twilight Party @ Rips
We hope you saved those fake vampire teeth from Halloween. They’ll come in handy on Saturday, when Obscura presents its third annual Twilight party, complete with advance passes to see Breaking Dawn: Part 2, free posters, and other swag. The party goes down at Rips Ales & Cocktails starting at 8:30 p.m. DJs Roya and Funkfinger will be in the mix. Cover is free before 9 p.m., and $5 after.
A Vintage Christmas @ WestWorld of Scottsdale
Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market makes a holiday-tinged return to WestWorld of Scottsdale on Saturday. Be on the lookout for vintage and handmade decorations, like trees, wreaths, ornaments, and other festive ephemera, from more than 60 vendors. VIP entry starts at 7 a.m. and costs $12. General admission starts at 10 a.m. and is $5. Kids younger than 12 get in free.
Canal Convergence @ Scottsdale Waterfront
Scottsdale Public Art’s Canal Convergence is a two-day celebration of Arizona’s waterworks, arts community, and the point at which the two meet. On the Scottsdale Waterfront, fest-goers will find interactive artwork and canal installations from such artists as Tex Jernigan, Christopher Janney, and Jeff Zischke. Live music and food trucks will also be on-site. In the afternoon, Christy Puetz leads a workshop and community collaborative installation titled Sparkly Fish. The event, which takes place on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., is free to attend.
