$10,000

One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local,
international, in action, and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s —
what’s yours?

Dustin Farrell‘s no stranger to one of our favorite ways to see nature — through the magic of time-lapse photography.
The Phoenix-based photographer works with Crew West, Inc., and has spent more than 10 years behind the lens for ESPN, The Golf Channel, NBC, ABC, and HGTV. The video above is Farrell’s second of a three-part series filmed in Arizona and parts of Utah.
“This video has some iconic landmarks that we have seen before,” he writes. “I felt that showing them again with motion controlled HDR and/or night timelapse would be a new way to see old landmarks.”

Each frame of the video is a still from a Canon 5D2 DSLR, processed with Adobe software. Farrell recommends that you check out the video in full-screen HD mode with sound.
“Hopefully you have a 1080P monitor and good connection,” he writes. “If not, bug a friend or colleague that does. It is worth it.”
