It’s one thing to post your photography online.
It’s another to thoughtfully dish in detail how a work is captured in a The Daybooks of Edward Weston-esque fashion.
Mark Lipczynski does just that in his Photography 101 blog. Along with showcasing selected images from his commercial and editorial shoots, the local shutterbug — who shot his first picture on a Kodak 126 Instamatic film camera — tells a little tale on each image in well-organized stream of consciousness.
He also catalogs all sorts of pertinent technical data that photo geeks will eat up. (The above photo, for instance, was handheld at 1/40, f8 using a Canon 5D MKII and a Canon 50mm f1.8 AF lens.)
If you want to see Lipczynski’s work in person, he’s currently featuring some of his non-commercial shots at Practical Art in the “Wings” solo exhibition. The show is unique because Lipczynski captured each image using toy cameras and out-of-date film.
