One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local, international, in action and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s — what’s yours?

Google’s been making it a little hard for art fans to get work done.

Following the release of Google Art Project, which allows users to tour 17 big-name museums around the world, the same technology is powering Street Art View, a virtual tour of pieces, murals, and wheatpastes from Brazil to Paris and Los Angeles to Phoenix.

You can browse certain areas, search for works by specific artists (though the list is currently short), and add or tag images within your own neighborhood. The mural above is on McKinley Avenue by Phoenix’s Joerael Elliott.

This year, make your gift count –
Invest in local news that matters.

Our work is funded by readers like you who make voluntary gifts because they value our work and want to see it continue. Make a contribution today to help us reach our $30,000 goal!

$30,000

The project’s a collaboration between Redbull and Brazilian ad agency Loducca, who are looking for everyone to add to the “the world’s largest art collection.” So get tagging, er painting … you know what we mean.
