Four Holiday Concerts That Won’t Totally Suck

​Holiday shows suck. At least the kind your mom is going to drag you to. You know the drill: some over-rated, over-the-hill songstress belting out every cliché Christmas song she can think of, including “All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth.”

God, that song is just the worst. 
But if you’re looking to get in the holiday spirit (and not the kind that makes you want to kill yourself,) allow us to suggest a few holiday-themed shows aren’t destined not suck. 
Alice Cooper’s Christmas Pudding
The 11-year-old holiday tradition with local shock rocker Alice Cooper is back. He has this ongoing obsession with pudding. It’s a little weird, but once a year the Valley likes to appease him, especially when his accompanying pudding fans this year include members of Cheap Trick and Korn’s Brian “Head” Welch. Chow down December 17 at Comerica Theatre. 
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Any other time of the year, this might not be your bag, but there’s something about swing music and the holidays that just seems right. They’ll re-tool holiday classics and perform season-inspired originals December 21 at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. 

Yucca’s Annual Christmas Formal
Yucca Tap Room hosts locals Dry River Yacht Club, The Sugar Thieves, Mojo Farmers and Decker for a night of dress up at your local dive bar. We hear a certain white-bearded, red velvet enthusiast will be there as well. And before you even think of wearing an ironic powder blue suit, just know that Yucca regulars already have theirs on reserve. Play dress up December 17. 
Trans-Siberian Orchestra
A totally un-suck holiday tradition, the prog rock holiday enthusiasts make their way to back the Valley, if not a bit late.
