There won’t be any pulsating electronica beats or brutal dubstep drops coming from Rockbar Inc. in Scottsdale. Instead, Craftsman Court’s newest nightspot (which opened during Thanksgiving weekend) will be the home of killer guitar riffs, sweet licks, and epic drum solos.
According to co-owners Brian Mrochinski and Alex Mundy, the musical menu at their establishment will be “all rock, all the time,” including local band gigs and DJs spinning rock ‘n’ roll over the sound system.
“Like the name on the building indicates, we’re pushing for a rock club feel,” Mrochinski says. “Don’t expect us to fade into playing hip-hop or Top 40.”
In other words, if you’re hoping to shake a tailfeather to LMFAO’s “Sexy And I Know It” during Rockbar’s official grand opening this weekend, you’d better skedaddle to another Scottsdale dance joint. DJ Scotty Boy from Las Vegas and Old Town regular 51Fifty will be dropping rock mash-ups and remixes on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

This weekend’s opening is the culmination of close to six months of work Mrochinski and Mundy to convert the old Acme Bar & Grill into Rockbar. They reportedly spent around $500,000 to remodel the Craftsman Court building, transforming the décor into a mix darkened woods and darkened lighting.

Other improvements include redoing the wiring and plumbing, extending the patio, adding a restroom and bar on the second floor of the building, and building an elevated stage in the front of the place.

Currently, the pair is planning on featuring local acts on said stage typically around three times a week during off nights, from Sunday to Thursday. However, they hope to also offer occasional weekend shows featuring touring or nationally known bands.
