Since there’s really no better accessory than a cocktail in your hand, each week brings you a tasty adult beverage from one of our favorite drinking establishments, complete with recipe.
This week: The 7th Heaven at Shady’s Fine Ales & Cocktails
With a name like Shady’s, you’d think this bar was just another hole-in-the-wall dive with bitter bartenders, creepy regulars and ordinary mixed drinks. Don’t get us wrong; the bar surely fits the category of a dive (i.e. lax vibe, drunk locals, jukebox and a pool table) but unlikable company and ordinary drinks are far from the shady case you assumed.
Okay, attentive bartenders that are willing to make friendly suggestions on better tasting alternatives to your boring drink preference shouldn’t be that hard to come by.
But, signature concoctions and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice? At Shady’s? Let’s just say, you had us at attentive bartenders.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $17,250 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
(Recipe after the jump.)
Ingredients:
1 ¾ oz Hendricks Gin
1 oz Cherry Heering Liqueur
½ oz fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
Pour Hendricks, Cherry Heering and grapefruit juice over ice in a martini shaker. Shake what yo’ momma gave you and strain contents into a chilled pint glass. Finish with fresh ice and a cherry garnish. Get on a name-to-name basis with the bartender because this just became your new favorite neighborhood bar.
