Social media’s used by students around the world to connect, share messages and photo albums (even last-minute birthday notifications), but communication students at Maricopa Community College and Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology are more interested in sharing and interacting with their cultures.
The universities’ collaborative television program, 180 View, is streamed through the group’s page, and aims to educate students (and whoever else might stumble upon the page) about local customs, activities, and mentalities.
The Arizona hosts have traveled to the Desert Botanical Gardens,
Montezuma Castle and various artists studios; in Ukraine, students have
shared views of Saint Sophia Cathedral, the local zoo, and the Black
Sea.
The
program also assists students studying foreign languages. Producers write that they hope 180 View ultimately promotes tolerance,
friendship, and a positive attitude toward each other.
To see episodes filmed by Maricopa Community Colleges Television
(MCTV), Sevastopol TV and
Radio Company (STV) in Ukraine, and the student television station of Moscow
Institute of Electronic Technology (MIET-TV), check out the 180 View Facebook page.
