The Making of Ephemicropolis from Peter Root on Vimeo.
UK artist Peter Root writes that much of his work involves highly repetitive techniques and “algorithmic procedures.”
In 2010, he created Low-Rise, a tightly packed series of thousands of free-standing stacks of staples arranged to create a small-scale city. His process was simple: separate, stack, move, repeat (and repeat again).
“Like a city, the staples are subject to the elements, on a micro scale,” he writes. “The slightest breath or vibration and the domino effect kicks in.”
