It’s been several years since Chaka Khan has had a relevant, mainstream voice, but that hasn’t stopped her from speaking out in light of the February shooting involving Florida teenager Trayvon Martin and neighborhood watch commando George Zimmerman.
Last week, the “Queen of Funk” best remembered for her 1984 cover of Prince’s “I Feel for You,” released a public service announcement and tribute song in honor of the slain 17-year-old.
Instead of penning a song from scratch, Khan reworked a song off of her 2007 album, Funk This. Titled, “Super Life: Fear Kills, Love Heals” the music video features several movie celebrities like Angela Bassett and Terry Crews, and other musicians wearing the “ominous” hoodie sweater.
