We’ve noticed two trends lately, in the used stuff business — first, a general proliferation of vintage/antique/thrift stores, particularly in the Melrose shopping district around 7th Avenue, very roughly bordered by Camelback and Indian School roads.

Second, folks are joining forces — such a good idea, in this tight economy. Two businesses, one roof. Smart!  Zinnias at Melrose Mall + Hollywood Regency on Indian School, Olive in Paris and Paris Envy on 7th Avenue, and down the street,
Go-Kat-Go + Bo’s Funky Stuff, at 4314 North 7th Avenue, which offers up everything from fine art to shrunken heads.

Longtime Valley favorite Go-Kat-Go moved last November from 7th Street to 7th Avenue, into a strip called the Melrose Center. “It couldn’t have been a better move,” says owner Brandi Kvetko. The amount of foot traffic here is far higher than on 7th Street. Go-Kat-Go not only reaps the benefits of their location, they also support their local pals like Two Hippies Breakfast Joint and Blueberry Deluxe Boutique.

We think that’s pretty bad ass.
