It’s been two years since Arizona transplant Michelle Blades‘ last album release. During that time the soulful singer-songwriter spent some time in Paris where she turned 21, and put in work on her new record, Mariana.
The new album, which is scheduled for release on February 18, is currently streaming in its entirety on the River Jones Music Label bandcamp site.
Clocking in at just under 43 minutes, Mariana is full of Blades patented ukulele strums and wistful vocals. Tobie Milford lends his violin prowess on the release while River Jones plays electric bass, and Ryan Daily provides any random acts of “sexy” you might hear.
You can catch the official release party on February 18, where the Trunk Space will be hosting Blades as well as Nova Joven, Tobie Milford and Wooden Indian.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
Until then scope out the album and check out this cool video shot in Paris of Blades performing a seamless timeline set that opens with a chilling cover of “Nature Boy.”
