$10,000

One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local,
international, in action and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s —
what’s yours?

On the side of an abandoned house in Nola, New Orleans, there’s a space to visualize your own bucket list.

Before I Die is the work of New Orleans-based artist Candy Chang (also behind “I Wish This Was _____”), who is determined to transform neglected spaces into constructive ones. She writes that that the question changed her in the last year:

“I believe the design of our public spaces can better reflect what’s important to us as residents and as human beings. The responses and stories from passersby while we were installing it have already hit me hard in the heart.”

A mini version was spotted on the chalkboard wall in downtown Phoenix’s Cycle, a restaurant that opened this month.
