A demolition crew tearing down the old Jockey Club building at 2200 East Highland Avenue found human skeletal remains this morning.
This is the third skeleton found in Phoenix since March, when two sets of human bones were found in Phoenix in less than 24 hours.
According to Phoenix police, a crane operator wash tearing down the building this morning when he found what he believed to human skeletal remains.
Police were called about 10:45 a.m.
Sergeant Trent Crump says homicide detectives and the Medical Examiner’s
Office have each determined that the bones were human remains.
Because it’s a skeleton, Crump says, no victim information is available.
In March, police found a skeleton in the desert near Pinnacle Peak and Tatum roads.
Less than 24 hours earlier, another human skeleton was found by Arizona Department of Transportation workers in a
storm drain near the Interstate 10 on-ramp at Loop 202 just north of
Washington Street.
The
drain is about 70 feet underground, and ADOT says it’s been several
years since it was last checked, so the remains could have been there
for quite a while.
As for the human skeleton found in Phoenix today, Crump says a death investigation has commenced.
