Move over, Dre, Diddy, and Snoop — HipHawk is in tha house!
The world already has its share of ridiculous ring tones, but now, thanks to a company called FunMobility, you can hear the voice of famed physicist Stephen Hawkings rapping “Baby Got Back” whenever that special someone calls your cell phone.
HipHawk Tones uses a voice synthesizer effect similar to the one
Hawking has used since his emergency tracheotomy in 1985. The voice
raps along to hip-hop classics like MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This,”
Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight,” and Dr. Dre’s “G Thang.” (HipHawk
Tones also goes sci-fi on A Tribe Called Quest’s “Can I Kick It?” and Notorious B.I.G.’s “Big Poppa.”)
Call
us buzzkills, but this seems rather silly. Sure, the ringtones are
funny the first time, but who really wants to hear the quadraplegic
scientist who celebrated his 67th birthday with a zero-gravity
sub-orbital space flight say, “Get sprung, son,” every time their
parents call? And is the sound of Hawkings robotically reciting 50
Cent’s “In Da Club” really worth a dollar?
Voyaging even further into the asinine, here’s a cat who goes by the handle MC Hawking and emulates the physicist in raps that diss Einstein, etc.: http://www.mchawking.com/
