A Phoenix woman won the lottery yesterday, which would have been great news if she hadn’t also been fatally hit by a car as she walked home from cashing the ticket.

The 60-year-old woman didn’t win a whole lot of money — just 10 bucks — which makes the story even more tragic.
According to police, the woman cashed her ticket near 35th and Myrtle Avenues around 4 p.m yesterday.

The woman left the store and started to walk home. As she was crossing an intersection, a Toyota 4 Runner swerved around a couple of cars that had stopped for the woman. The 4 Runner hit the woman causing fatal injuries.
Police don’t suspect any impairment is to blame for the accident.
