Old-timey prog rock band Yes is coming to Phoenix on Wednesday, February 25. This according to a press release filled with proclamations that’d make The Beatles blush:
“A dominant force in rock music for more than four decades, YES has created some of rock’s most enduring and compelling hits and has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. The group has defined music history with their dynamic instrumental contrasts, extended song lengths and abstract lyrics. Their symphonic use of sound and innovative musical styles continues to make them the most successful progressive rock band in history.”
Tickets will go on-sale Monday at 10 a.m.
What the press release doesn’t mention is that original singer Jon Anderson is out, replaced in the cruelest way possible, with Benoit David, former singer of Yes cover band Close to the Edge. Earlier this year the band canceled their whole tour due to Anderson’s illness, so I guess it had to be done. But with a guy from a Yes cover band? Oof. –Martin Cizmar
