As every gun owner should know, the Number One rule of handling firearms is to never point a gun at anything you don’t want to destroy.
Arizona State Senator Lori Klein, R-Anthem, violated that rule in a big way during a recent interview with Arizona Republic reporter Richard Ruelas.
In an article published yesterday, Ruelas describes how Klein pulled out a loaded Ruger from its case while sitting on a couch outside the Senate chamber.
“She showed off the laser sighting by pointing the red beam at the reporter’s chest,” Ruelas writes.

Klein then told Ruelas that the gun has no safety but he didn’t need to worry because “‘I just didn’t have my hand on the trigger.'”
We don’t begrudge Klein the right to carry a concealed gun, which nearly every non-felon can do under Arizona law.
But this is exactly the type of bad behavior that gives law-abiding firearm owners a bad name.
It’s also the type of idiot move that gets people shot accidentally, which is why the NRA and other groups that teach gun safety consider it the primary gun-safety rule.
