A mere three days after pitching a no-hitter, Edwin Jackson already is reaping the rewards.
Jackson, who threw his gem against Tampa Bay on Friday, was named National League Player of the Week for his work.
Carlos Quentin of the Chicago White Sox won the award for the American League.
Jackson’s no-hitter took some pressure off of the Snakes as they continue to play through a miserable season that won’t end anywhere near the playoffs. On the season, Jackson is 5-6 with a 4.63 ERA.

In his 149-pitch outing, Jackson walked eight Rays while mustering the strength to complete the game. Due to the extended pitch count, Jackson will get a few extra days off and will miss his start on Wednesday.
While it’s amazing that Jackson’s arm didn’t fall off after that outing, he will have a shiny new watch to wear that he’ll receive along with the award.
Congrats to Jackson for giving D-Backs fan something to chatter about other than Mark Reynolds’ strikeouts or the failures of the D-Backs bullpen.
