The Phoenix Coyotes broke a record last night that was set as recently as Saturday — fewest tickets sold.
The “white out” appears to have come to an end.
Only 5,855 tickets were sold for last night’s 5-3 loss to the Kings, which broke Saturday’s dismal record of 6,495, when the Coyotes beat the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim 3-2 in a shootout.
This astounding show of fan support comes on the same day U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Redfield Baum approved the sale of the bankrupt franchise to the NHL, putting an end to the wild six-month ride through bankruptcy court.
The NHL has vowed to find a buyer for the team that will keep it in the Valley — with under 6,000 people going to a game, it’ll be lucky to pay the electric bill, let alone keep a hockey team in Arizona.
