Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio will celebrate the 16th anniversary of Tent City today. The planned fete includes a hot dog barbecue and an ice cream social for inmates. Arpaio says the 1,000 hot dogs and the ice cream were donated…Police arrested 48 people at a house party near 32nd avenue in Phoenix early Saturday. Police say those arrested were members of a “party crew,” people who hop from house to house partying every night. Most of the arrests on Saturday were for underage drinking and liquor and curfew violations…The Arizona Game and Fish Department has lifted a hunting ban on lions in the Kofa National Wild Refuge near Yuma. The agency says mountain lions are not at risk, and is instead taking steps to protect bighorn sheep in the area…Queen Creek fire captain Eric Tinkham, 44, died in his sleep early Saturday at one of the town’s fire stations. Tinkham had worked as a firefighter in Queen Creek for 24 years and is survived by his wife and three daughters…Scottsdale-based company Taser International Inc. hopes federal stimulus funds will stimulate sales of Tasers to more police departments. But many local agencies, including the Glendale Police Department and the Scottsdale Police Department, say they have no plans to increase their Taser purchases…A village in Lincolnshire, England suffered a power outage after a woman’s thong got caught in overhead power cables. About 17 homes and businesses were without power until crews were able to free the entangled undergarment.
