It appears we’ve struck a nerve with some fans of the role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons.

Yesterday we wrote about a Glendale man, who, after attending a computer role-playing conference in Atlanta, allegedly tried hooking up with a 16-year-old girl.

Fans of the game criticized New Times and this reporter probably from the safety of their parents’ basements as sophomoric jerks.

We never directly said the game was nerdy — we actually prefaced it with the word “cool” — but the D&D army came to the conclusion that we were ridiculing its soldiers.

Sounds like the coolness of D&D is a bit of a touchy subject for some of role-players involved. Who knew?
