After 32 years of recording music, Weird Al Yankovic finally nabbed a number-one hit album with 2014’s Mandatory Fun. The only way the accordion-playing parodist could be more on top of the world would be if he were given full control of his own television station to let loose with demented programming. By chance, that’s the plot to Yankovic’s only starring turn on the silver screen in 1989’s UHF. As loser George Newman, Weird Al’s acquires a lower-dial tv station from his gambling-addict uncle, then fills airwaves with fare like Stanley Spadowski’s Clubhouse (featuring Michael Richards) and Wheel of Fish.
