Two shots were fired from a helicopter being operated in the U.S. by Mexican law enforcement yesterday morning.
The helicopter crossed about 100 years into the United States, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Here’s the statement CBP has sent to inquiring media:
At approximately 5:45 a.m. Thursday morning, a Mexican law enforcement helicopter crossed approximately 100 yards north into Arizona nearly 8 miles southwest of the Village of San Miguel on the Tohono O’odham Indian Nation while on a law enforcement operation near the border. Two shots were fired from the helicopter but no injuries or damage to U.S. property were reported. The incident is currently under investigation.
The Border Patrol’s union president for the Tucson sector has also released a statement, saying Mexican law enforcement had “fired upon” two Border Patrol agents, although neither was hurt.
It was just recently reported by the Washington Times that there have been perhaps hundreds of incidents of Mexican law enforcement straying over the border.
