Kristen Suggs, a 25-year-old Phoenix resident, ran over and killed a pedestrian and drove away, police say.
According to court documents obtained by New Times, she called 911 an hour later to report that “something was thrown at her vehicle,” damaging it, but police thought Suggs may have been lying when they noticed the blood all over the front of her car.
Suggs, whose employer is listed as Phoenix Children’s Hospital, hit the victim around 11:15 p.m. on May 5, on 19th Avenue, next to the state fairground.
Paramedics responding to the scene pronounced the victim dead.
An hour later, Suggs called 911, to report criminal damage to her car, from something allegedly thrown at her vehicle.
Police responded to the call — a mile away from the crash — and found “severe front-end damage consistent with a vehicle versus pedestrian crash,” court documents state.
Officers found blood both on the dashboard and in the broken windshield.
Suggs said she was the only one driving the car and did drive past the area of the crash, but she insisted that something was thrown at her car and said she had no idea that she hit a person.
Suggs was booked into jail on a felony charge for hit-and-run involving a death.
