A strange shooting in west Phoenix over the weekend has left a 22-year-old woman dead and police scratching their heads.

About 2 a.m. yesterday, two women were driving home from a party in west Phoenix. The women got into an argument, Phoenix police say, and stopped the car at a tire store near 50th Avenue and McDowell Road.

While stopped, police say an unknown suspect pulled up next to the two women and asked if everything was alright. The girls said everything was fine, and pulled away from the man.

It was then that the women heard a “pop” — police say the man fired a
bullet through the back window of the victim’s car, fatally wounding
Alexcia Salsberry, who was riding in the passenger seat.

The suspect then took off.

The surviving woman got help from a bystander, who called police.

Police say the description of the suspect and his vehicle are vague.
He’s described as Hispanic, with a bald or shaved head. At the time of
the shooting, he was wearing a light-colored t-shirt and he was driving
an SUV.

Anyone with any info about the shooting is asked to call Phoenix
Police at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480- WITNESS. For Spanish
call 480-TESTIGO
