The standard argument over whose responsibility it is to do the dishes following a meal may have finally been settled by a Mesa man, who shot and killed his father — before apparently trying to kill himself — following an argument on the matter.

Last night, 21-year-old Aaron Farinacci had dinner with his parents at their home in Mesa.

Following the meal, a discussion about who was going to do the dishes took place. The discussion turned into an argument.

Police say Farinacci then got up, went into his parents’ bedroom, and
locked the door. He grabbed a gun that was already in the room.

When his father got the door open, Farinacci shot him twice.

His mother then went into the room and Farinacci pointed the gun at her. She ran and called police.

An ambulance rushed the father to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Having apparently won the argument over the dishes, Farinacci didn’t
stick around to make sure they got done. He was found about an hour
later a few blocks from his house. He was laying on the street with a
self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to the hospital,
where he is currently in critical condition.
