The Tempe offices of companies linked to Conley Wolfswinkel, a developer with a history of questionable land deals, were searched today by deputies as part of the criminal case against County Supervisor Don Stapley.

The East Valley Tribune has a story about the raid, which apparently happened this morning.

Details in theTrib article are scant in this breaking story, but Lisa Allen, spokeswoman for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, apparently confirmed the search was connected to the Stapley case.

New Times columnist Sarah Fenske speculated recently on how Wolfswinkel — and the people who hate him — fit into the allegations being made against Stapley by Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas. If anything, today’s raid seems like more evidence Fenske’s theory is correct.
