The Tempe Police Department announced minutes ago that an arrest has been made in the murder of 21-year-old Arizona State University senior Kyleigh Sousa.

No details were announced — further information is being held until a 3 p.m. press conference this afternoon.

Sousa was murdered on May 26. Tempe police responded to a call
that a female had been run over near the International House of Pancakes
on Apache Boulevard in Tempe.

Police say Sousa was approached by a heavy-set Hispanic male in a newer model, silver Chrysler 300 or Dodge Charger.

The
suspect, police say, grabbed Sousa’s purse and tried to drive away, but
Sousa got tangled and was dragged several feet by the vehicle. She died from her injuries.

We’ll be at the press conference. Check back to Valley Fever later today for all the details.
