On September 30, Phoenix took a walk with the latest edition of New Times‘ reading series, Bar Flies. Now, the conversation will continue on Tuesday, October, 6, at the opening reception of “Talking Walking,” an exhibition from the Museum of Walking.
Museum of Walking founder Angela Ellsworth explains:
“At the end of Bar Flies: Take a Walk, the readers’ stories were collected in all their original glory in order to become part of the new exhibition at the Museum of Walking in Tempe.
“Whether covered in sweat, beer, or scribbles, the scripts were gifted to MoW exactly as the writers performed with them during the storytelling event. The scripts will be exhibited on the walls of MoW while the sounds of walking in downtown Phoenix permeate the museum walls in Tempe.”

Bar Flies September readers included Becky Bartkowski, Rebecca Fish Ewan, Brandon Ferderer, Tania Katan, Laurie Notaro, and Sativa Peterson. The evening’s theme was “Take a Walk” and the readers’ prompt was a scripted walk from Valley Bar to Crescent Ballroom in downtown Phoenix. Attendees were invited to take the walk the evening of the event. You can see the results at #takeawalkphx on Instagram.
The opening reception for Talking Walking will be held October 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Museum of Walking Tempe Site 1, Tower Center Suite 206, 123 E. University Drive.
