Donate before you dine out at these 7 Phoenix restaurants and bars

Take part in the season of giving with these Valley drives and fundraisers at local bars and restaurants.
Phoenix restaurant Brody's Italian has partnered with Sojourner Center on a holiday toy drive, and is rewarding donors with a 10% discount.

In this season of giving, restaurants, bars and breweries are offering ways for their guests to get in on action and share more together. Spots across the Valley are collecting toys for kids and supporting local charities with drives and donations.

Here are seven Phoenix bars and eateries where you can spread some cheer this holiday season on the way to your dinner or drinks.

Toy drive at Brody’s Italian

Through Dec. 20
10810 N. Tatum Blvd.Brody’s Italian has partnered with the Sojourner Center for a special toy drive to support survivors of domestic violence and their families over the holidays. Guests can bring new, unwrapped toys from the center’s wish list, which includes coloring books, board games, bath toys and more. To thank customers for their generosity, Brody’s Italian will offer a 10% discount to those who donate gifts.

Toy drive at Streets of New York

Multiple locationsThe local pizzeria chain Streets of New York has partnered with the national organization Childhelp on a holiday toy drive. The nonprofit works to provide support to children who are at-risk or who have been abused or neglected. Each of the pizzeria’s 16 Valley locations will accept new, unwrapped toys, clothing, books, personal care items and more for children and teens through Dec. 20. Hygiene donation drive at Wren Sudhalle

Wren Sudhalle, the European-inspired beer hall from Wren House Brewing Co., is partnering with a local nonprofit to help families in need with everyday essentials. Wren Sudhalle will collect items including shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, soap, toilet paper and menstrual products through Dec. 20. These will go to Kyrene Family Resource Center, which helps support students of Kyrene School District with those everyday and immediate needs.

Opportunity Tree fundraiser with Jewel’s Bakery and Cafe

4041 E. Thomas RoadJewel’s Bakery and Cafe, a gluten-free Phoenix eatery, has partnered with nonprofit The Opportunity Tree to fundraise for its employment services program. The Opportunity Tree offers support to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Jewel’s fundraising campaign will specifically go toward a program that helps individuals seek, find and maintain employment. Donations may be made online. The giving campaign culminates with a breakfast with Santa at Jewel’s on Dec. 21.

Holiday drive at Gracie’s Tax Bar

711 N. Seventh Ave.Gracie’s Tax Bar has more than one way to give back this holiday season. The downtown Phoenix bar is collecting donations on its patio for three mothers in need, with specific items for each family requested – a full list is online here. Donations for these families will be accepted through Dec. 24. From Dec. 22 to 28, Gracie’s will donate $1 from the sale of every Pabst Blue Ribbon to AZ HUGS, a nonprofit that supports people experiencing homelessness.

Scottsdale speakeasy Tell Your Friends has two ways to pay it forward, with portions of proceeds from the cover charge and drink sales going to Phoenix Children’s and The Joy Bus.

Fundraisers at Tell Your Friends

Scottsdale Road, ScottsdaleTell Your Friends, the luxe Art Deco-inspired Scottsdale speakeasy below The Americano, has transformed into a winter wonderland with an “It’s a Wonderful Life” pop-up experience. Tell Your Friends has also dropped a special bar menu for the pop-up. Among the new, festive cocktails is Forever Winter, a pumpkin-spiced vodka sipper featuring Tito’s Handmade Vodka. For every drink sold, Tito’s will donate $1 to The Joy Bus, the Phoenix organization that delivers fresh, healthy food to people with cancer. This promotion will run through Dec. 30 or until $2,500 is donated. The speakeasy has also waived its live entertainment fee but will charge a $10 cover, from which a portion will be donated to Phoenix Children’s.

Donate with drinks at Backyard

1975 E. Williams Field Road, GilbertThe two Valley locations of the outdoor-inspired sports bar Backyard will donate $1 from a seasonal drink order to support local animal shelters. When guests order a vodka cranberry mule through Dec. 31, a portion of their payment will be donated to either the Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue or Heart of Infinity Rescue, at Gilbert and Desert Ridge locations, respectively. The Desert Ridge location of Backyard will also support Heart of Infinity with a giving tree, which has ornaments with specific dog items requested.
