Brian Wilson, one of the founding members of the legendary California band the Beach Boys, died at age 82. He suffered from a neurocognitive disorder for several years.
His family posted an announcement on Instagram on Wednesday, June 11, to share the news with the public and request their need for privacy, as well as a similar message on the official Facebook page, saying, “We’re heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away,” his family wrote in a statement shared on Wilson’sicial Facebook. “We’re at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world. Love & Mercy.”
Wilson was known as much for his musical production and composition skills as his vocal and musical abilities. He was often regarded as a source of inspiration by other musicians internationally. He leaves behind seven children, including Carnie and Wendy, who are known for their work in the band Wilson Phillips.
