Sometimes art imitates other art. And no, we’re not talking everyone and their mom trying to emulate iconic pieces of work. To see what we mean, join librarian Abigail Nersesian during the Art Lovers Book Club in the Lemon Art Research Library at the Phoenix Art Museum, 1625 North Central Avenue, on Wednesday, May 6, at 11 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. and Friday, May 8, at 2 p.m. The group will discuss The Painted Kiss by Elizabeth Hickey, which was inspired by Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss. The best poetry is natural, from its genesis to its delivery. But the poetry presented during Organic Poetry Second Friday will be more than natural — it will be organic. And presented alongside the paintings of Joe Montano III. This poet-painter will present his newest works at The Firehouse Gallery, 1015 North First Street, on Friday, May 8, starting at 8 p.m. The event is free, but donations are encouraged.
