Frida existed to paint, and only then was the “Dove” allowed to fly free and depict her dark reality of surgeries, miscarriages, and self-medication.

Our local Frida boosters, the Phoenix Fridas, salute the late, great Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón on the occasion of her 101st birthday. Party favors include panel discussions, art, and musical performances inspired by Kahlo’s work and life.
