With Halloween falling on a Thursday this year, the real entertainment might end up being at the office Friday morning. As many of us know, the costume may be easily doffed, but the shame takes longer to scrub off. So if you’re one of those who has reached the pinnacle of maturity and prefers to observe rather than be observed — or you’re one who needn’t adorn himself in ornate costumery that’s just a thinly veiled ploy for attention anyway — good for you, jerk.
While the rest of us are muscling our way up to a crowded bar somewhere, surrounded by haphazardly dressed superheroes and under-dressed nurses, you’ll be at the Tempe Center For The Arts, 700 West Rio Salado Parkway, enjoying the iconic horror film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, accompanied by live orchestration via the Arizona Pro Arte Ensemble. Featuring Brahms and Wagner, APA’s reinterpretation of the film’s lost score will be as terrifying as the amount of unwelcome cleavage the rest of us night-crawlers will surely endure. Tickets start at $20 for the 7:30 p.m. event on October 31. Visit www.azproarte.com or call 866-625-4586 for details.
