During the period when Skinny Puppy was broken up – from the mid-’90s to about 2003 – frontman Nivek Ogre formed a new project called ohGr with composer/producer and fellow stray Puppy member Mark Walk. The group was (and still is) the shiz, because ohGr’s two-man sound storm departed from the usual industrial-music clichés. The vibe was all about slowing the tempo and experimenting with elements of electro-pop and metal. Today, the emperors of second-wave industrial – who just released their first album in five years, Devils in My Details – have reclaimed the throne with a fresh take on the genre they helped to create.
