Amazing fashion, sexy celebrities, hard partying, drugs, a downward spiral — fashion designer, Halston‘s life was filled with the elements good stories are made of.
This weekend, the Phoenix Art Museum’s Arizona Costume Institute Nouveau Division is presenting a one-time showing of the documentary of Halston’s life, Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston.

The film follows his career as a celebrity designer (he’s behind Jacqueline Kennedy’s iconic pill-box hat that she wore at JFK’s inauguration) and fixture of the Studio 54 party scene, as well as his drug-induced downfall, AIDS-related death, and his name’s resurgence in today’s fashion world.

The documentary combines archival footage and interviews from celeb friends Liza Minnelli, Anjelica Huston, Diane Von Furstenberg and those who were influenced by his work.
The Phoenix Art Museum will host cocktail hour at 6 p.m. (note: cash only) before the show and encourages attendees to deck out in Studio 54, disco-style. The movie will start around 7:30 p.m. Tickets are sold at the museum and through the website for $20 each.

The museum is located at 1625 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix for more information, visit their website or call (602) 257-1222.
