One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local, international, in action and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s — what’s yours?

Ever since he can remember, Matt Stevens has been drawing his shoes.

Stevens is a big-time sneakerhead and a big-time designer in North Carolina, and the combination (what he calls a “youthful obsession”) quickly turned into a study of shoe designers, shoe designs, and his own collection of shoe illustrations, photographs, and renderings.

He challenged himself to interpret his favorite pair, the AirMax1, in a different way each day. And what started as a two-week project became a 100-day challenge.

This year, make your gift count –
Invest in local news that matters.

Our work is funded by readers like you who make voluntary gifts because they value our work and want to see it continue. Make a contribution today to help us reach our $30,000 goal!

$30,000

He’s currently at 60 designs, but because of time constraints and his day-job schedule, he needs help making the last 40.

He moved his project to Kickstarter, where he hopes to raise money for MAX100, a book he’ll create once he’s reached 100 designs.

Stevens writes that the book will look into sneaker culture as well as behind the scenes look at his process, inspiration, sketches, and completed designs.
