It’s one of the most abused, misunderstood, and revered subjects in history. According to most artists, it’s a total bitch to capture realistically. See how the likes of Deborah Butterfield, Korea’s Nam Jun Paik, and Los Carpinteros of Cuba depict the human body in the “Figuring Prominently” exhibit at ASU Art Museum. The exhibit showcases a wide range of works from the museum’s permanent collection, from basic drawings and paintings to social commentaries such as local artist Jon Haddock’s stirring 98-107 — a crowd of papier-mâché figurines of U.S. senators who voted for the Patriot Act giving the Nazi salute.
