Name: Anna Chenoweth
Age: I am 23 now and got my first tattoo (the doodle one) at 19.
My Upper Back Piece: Is actually in honor of my wonderful mother Sue Chenoweth who is a painter and teacher. I didn’t want to get her actual artwork tattooed on me but I love the random doodles that she does.
She sometimes doodles super symmetrical, often pointless designs, in order to concentrate on what is in front of her. Whether she’s at a lecture or talking on the phone she doodles.
For about a year I snatched all of the doodles I could find by her on random pieces of scratch paper from around our house and chose one for a tattoo.
It is just a simple symmetrical random design in the middle of my upper back to symbolize my mom and her awesomeness. I got it done at Sacred Skin Tattoo in Phoenix by an artist named Chris.
The only other tattoo I have (so far) is a blue and white snowflake on my right hip that an artist named Levi did when he worked at Artistic Tattoo. One of the most symmetrical things made my nature … I definitely have a thing for symmetry.
Next Tattoo? I want many more tattoos and the main thing holding me back is that they are very expensive. Next I want to get a large piece on the left side of my rib cage of a “toddler” elephant falling bottom first through bubbles.
Today’s the last day of MARKED, but tomorrow, we start DOODLES (see what we did there?). So save your napkins, envelopes and scrap pieces of paper — actually email them to us — because we’re going to take a look into what you’re drawing while you’re supposed to be doing something else.
