As if we needed another reason to get off of the Light Rail along Central Avenue in downtown Phoenix, Arizona Opera announced that in the next year it will be renovating and moving into 1636 N. Central Ave. (formerly Walsh Brothers Furniture).
Opera representatives say the 16,800 square-foot space across from Phoenix Art Museum and Phoenix Theater will be dedicated to the group’s rehearsal schedule, costume collection, and administration offices, and will also be open for educational visits and smaller opera and theater shows.

Since moving operations from Tucson to Phoenix in 2010, the musical powerhouse group was practicing in Mesa and performing at Symphony Hall.
Renovations are expected to be complete by summer 2012, and full season performances will continue at Downtown’s Symphony Hall and at the Tucson Music Hall
