Last year’s Arizona Roller Derby league season featured plenty of drama as the underdog Tent City Terrors managed to win it all. This year’s season figures to be even more dramatic. With the league expanding, the rosters have been reshuffled a good bit. Because of this, the playing field is wide open–without knowing how teams will adapt to their new additions, it’s impossible to tell who has the upper hand.
This unpredictability will make Saturday, January 31’s season-12 opener at SpoFit, 5031 East Washington Street, especially exciting. The event is a doubleheader, featuring first a matchup between the Surly Gurlies and the Tucson Copper Queens and then a bout between the Bad News Beaters and Tucson Vice Squad.
The skates will hit the track at 5:30. Tickets for the event are $10 if you buy them in advance (available on www.azrollerderby.com) and $12 at the door.
