Now in its 27th year as a spring staple, Artlink’s Art Detour takes over the galleries and sidewalks in the heart of downtown, featuring more than 100 participating artsy locations. Highlights include a block party by Paint PHX along Fifth Street and “Detour de Grand,” focusing on galleries from Grand Avenue through the warehouse district.
Artlink provides trolleys to shuttle participants from galleries along Roosevelt Row to Grand Avenue and beyond, and both biking and walking tours are available. Expect hands-on activities to keep little ones entertained while food trucks provide for the hungry.
Wear walking shoes and bring an art aficionado: the detour debuts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7. Gallery hours vary, but most close around 5 p.m. The free event runs through Sunday, March 8. Dial 602-256-7539 or visit www.artlinkphoenix.com/art-detour for maps.
