Local punks Johnny Volume and Tyler King are making like The Jeffersons. More specifically, they’re taking their long-running punk rock weekly, BANNED, and “movin’ on up” to Jugheads starting on Thursday, March 19. The night debuted in late 2006 at Stray Cat Bar & Grill as “BANNED in Tempe,” where King slung the booze as bartender, and Volume spun choice selections of punk, hardcore, and reggae platters from his expansive record collection. Tyler recently started handling the booking duties at Jugheads (which went through a renovation and ownership change a few weeks back), however, and decided to bring his boy Johnny along for the ride. Another change is the addition of DJ Mark LaRue (formerly of the 1…2…3…4!!! punk night at the Rose and Crown) who will help Volume man the decks.
