Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Fresh on the heels of last night’s first-ever Bar Flies — brought to you by Phoenix New Times and Valley Bar — we’d like to announce the line-up for the next installment in the live reading series.
The second Bar Flies will take place Thursday, July 9 at Valley Bar, Charlie Levy’s new downtown Phoenix venue. Katie Johnson, a former New Times contributor who’s appeared onstage all over town, including SMoCA’s Lit Lounge, is curating, and the readers are Beth May, Sara Palmer, Evan Roberts, Jason P. Woodbury, and Amy Young.
Editor’s Note: Stephanie Chen will be reading in place of Amy Young.
The Audio Ranch will provide the playlist, and while the food side of things at Valley Bar may not be up and running by then, we can definitely promise you drinks. Those will cost you. The stories are free. Doors open at 6.
