Barneys New York at Scottsdale Fashion Square will close this May, according to a February 2 report from Phoenix Business Journal.
The New York-based luxury department store’s public relations director, Ashley Calandra, has confirmed to New Times that the store will shutter. At this time, there are no plans to relocate or open a new metro Phoenix location. Store representatives in Scottsdale have not responded to New Times’ requests for comment and details on the matter.
In recent years, rumors had circulated that the high-end chain’s sole Arizona location would shutter. The two-level store opened at the upscale mall’s east wing in 2009 and originally included a bistro called Fred’s, which shuttered in 2011.
The store’s closure will be the latest in a slew of recent changes that Fashion Square has undergone, including the opening of a new Harkins Camelview location near Barneys and an expanded wing featuring Dick’s Sporting Goods.
