Political junkies, hipster historians, documentary fiends — you get the point; wherever your interests lie, Mr. Conservative: Goldwater on Goldwater promises to have a little something for everyone, regardless of party preference. Produced by HBO Films and C.C. Goldwater of Sweet Pea Films, this Emmy-nominated work documents Arizona politician Barry Goldwater’s conservative philosophy starting with his1960 manifesto, The Conscience of a Conservative, through his presidential campaign against Lyndon Johnson, and onward into the 1980s and ’90s. Additionally, the film highlights the more intimate aspects of Goldwater’s life and political career with rare clips from home movies, archival footage, and interviews with such political figures as Hillary Clinton, Edward Kennedy, John McCain, and Al Franken.
Mr. Conservative: Goldwater on Goldwater screens for free at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 17, at Changing Hands Bookstore, 6428 South McClintock Drive in Tempe. For more information visit www.changinghands.com or call 480-730-0205.
