Last month, we blogged about “baths salts” people are snorting to get high. We noted that these so-called bath salts, which are sold on the Internet and at many head shops, are marketed much like spice was, and are potentially more dangerous when used as a recreational drug.
This week, our news feature, “The Need for Speed,” takes a closer look at the synthetic compounds in bath salts that reportedly have the same effects as speed when ingested.
We also talked to local toxicology expert Dr. Daniel Brooks about the negative side-effects of bath salts, their growing popularity in Phoenix, and hospitalizations from bath salt ingestion across the country (including a couple cases in the Valley).
